I was in middle school for the Monday Night Wars, which was great.
One thing scorched into my brain that I watched live: sid vicious’s shin snapping because they finally talked him into coming off the top rope.
I thankfully wasn’t watching when Owen Hart fell, but I remember all of WCW entering the ring to pay tribute at the next nitro.
I still remember being shocked when Benoit did the diving head butt off the cage. A fricking 15 foot belly flop.

It’s very odd how I like reading and hearing about wrestling behind the scenes stuff about 10x more than I ever liked the shows.
This 83 weeks was probably around the few stretches of time that I consistently watched it. But for some reason I love these shoot interviews and things. There really were some dynamic things going on.

Same here!
WCW 96-00 was my fav time, though!

they came to the alario center years ago and had an intro like that.
one of my dads workers brought us all to the event(front row) and tried to get into the ring and fight them after he called everyone white trash

its creepy as hell imo.
40 year old men stalk a bunch of high school kids on twitter and collectively masturbate if they start following some team or coach or like someone online

My favorite era for both wwf and wcw was
94-98 years. I remember constantly flipping back and forth between TNT and USA. Bret Hart vs Sean michaels and undertaker vs mankind were my favorites during wwf. I was always a fan of stone cold Steve Austin frick you attitude. Also, as a kid when I first saw gold dust that fricked my head up. I was like wtf is this gay shite lol.
For wcw I love the sting, hogan, macho man vs the four horseman. When hogan leg dropped macho man and nwo was formed that was another level. Also I can’t forget about the Harlem brothers!

I’m listening to the Bash at the Beach 2000 one. First one I’ve heard. I like how Conrad busts Bischoff’s balls from time to time and he just rolls with it, not defensive at all. Good chemistry there.

I hated Goldberg. He had no acting skills. WCW started down hill when he showed up!

Damn shite getting dicey with Conrad and Bischoff toward the end.
Good listening though. High stakes and crazy people lead to this shite.

Conrad changed the game.
Love listening to the mlw network.
It's crazy about how much the wrestlers made 20 years ago.

WCW was the superior product back then.
They had everything from old WWF announcers/commentators (Mean Gene & Bobby the Brain), classic wrestlers (Hogan & Macho Man), and newer wrestlers (Hall & Nash) - not to mention better storylines (Hogan turning heel and joining NWO, etc.).
WWF had some newer wrestlers (Stone Cold, The Rock, Mankind, etc) but it wasn't enough to top WCW.

Saw him at WrestleCon in New Orleans. Dude looked fricking miserable.

In the mid-90s in the years following the WWF steroid scandal, yes WCW was better. The nWo invasion really put them over the top. But Stone Cold and The Rock and Foley and DX WERE enough to topple WCW. Oversaturation of talent, backstage politics, and horrible leadership/management led to their downfall. Which is a shame, because WWE sucks now without any competition.

Wcw was going to fail due to the merger.
Yes, there was plenty of mistakes that happened.
