However there are other private utility companies out there, no? Are you saying they are all worse than Entergy?

Your only safe bet is Cleco. I doubt a private firm would take it on unless there was some real corruption going on at the council.

Best of luck getting another company that knows what they're doing to come buy the piece of junk that is ENO given the storm risk, overbearing regulators, zero flexibility in capital spend or bill headroom, and being surrounded on all 4 sides by the rest of Entergy.

You may well be correct. Won't know unless we try.

and you don't want any financial buyer besides Berkshire within a million miles of ENO.

My guess is that Berkshire is the preferred suitor... they have the experience, the size, and the financial backing / credit.

Entergy is doing this knowing full well New Orleans' options are pretty much none except municipalization.

I don't support municipalization. But if you are right... we then need to look at how we have been allowed to be held over a barrel like this.

It’s just shite luck. It’s Entergys fault if someone stands under a line with a Mylar balloon and release it into the conductor. Guess it’s also Entergys fault when a big arse bird takes off and streamer of bird shite causes the line to trip

Macquarie is getting out from underneath Cleco in the foreseeable future. Cleco doesn't really have much dealmaking flex.

Incredible. Might want to find another thread

Nah, I'll stick in this one.

How is Entergy going to change state law / home rule charter?

Who says they don’t. A bird.

You don’t really think it’s a one way street, do you?

This is another fine example of Entergy talking out of their backside. What a bunch of clowns.

Entergy basically just said they're willing to walk away from Nola.

That may be unprecedented. I don't think you grasp just how bad that is for New Orleans that a utility based in that city is willing to walk away without a fight.

Sounds like Entergy has decided that not even profits made from Nola are worth putting up with the City Council. That speaks volumes about how bad that city government is.

It's quite literally your only suitor. I work in the utility M&A space, and discussions have shown that your options aren't good.

Oh come on.

Or maybe the POS infrastructure isn't hardened enough to handle a balloon or bird shite.

He's an idiot with some longstanding grudge. He does this in every Entergy thread while sitting in his tax accountant cube thinking he's enlightened.

What hardening handles electrical contact of a ballon with transmission conductor?

If it's the only suitor... is it still a better fit than Entergy?

Multiple alternatives are great but you really only need one if it's a good one.

Entergy is butt hurt because the politicians and citizens are being mean to them.

Maybe you should syndicate a deal and run ENO

If I were on the BOD, I'd demand they sell ENO for pennies on the dollar just to cut ties and let it rot to the ground.

Are they though? They’re willing to walk away giving the city exactly what they seem to want. They don’t seem mad at all.

I don't blame them. They have their issues but these slimy fricks running this city are a MUCH bigger problem.

BTW, Entergy is being sued now by a group of lawyers that includes Juan fricking Lafonta. The suit includes 10 wrongful death cases.

I may be an idiot... but I'm tired of this city settling for crap that would not be tolerated in the rest of the country.

I fully understand that our government might be even crappier. But... the people of the city deserve a functional private utility. Not one that has the issues Entergy has.
