So they're just like a bully on the playground, pop em good in the nose and they leave you alone? They prefer to blindside their prey to minimize losing teeth or other injury, correct?

I've watched the nat geo shows in that same area where they catch them and get them up on a platform along side the boat to test and tag them, they seem real docile and don't fight or thrash around like almost every game fish I've had on a line, even on the platform they just kind of lay there and take their medicine

I had a small 9 footer get in the cage with me. Thats the only one that was pretty brave.
I would have horrific nightmares about that pretty much forever.

I'd do the cage dive, but I ain't free diving with any of them. Sorry. Nope.

It's always the juveniles, in every species. Snakes. Humans. Everything.

Most Ive seen have tags or we tagged them. We also took DNA samples, to determine the size of the gene pool. This was back in the 90's so I don't know if they ever linked the gene pools from the south pacific, pacific, and atlantic stocks. Im sure they have it figured out by now, though.

I'd love to go on a trip like that, just to be a deck hand or something, that sounds awesome.

I've been on numerous expeditions tracking and studying Great White behaviour. It's quite fascinating to see such raw power and grace in a surreal underwater abyss.

that would be cool, can you get on some of those trips as a volunteer, or do they take people along to subsidize their research?

Well, it's a team effort, so everyone works and has a role. Because we tale our research seriously, we only allow qualified doctors and other grads to go on our expeditions.

However, I'm sure there are charters out there who can give you a great experience.

Those are experiences I never took for granted.

Someone had a thread in the OB and i posted this pic of some shots I took. Might as well post it here, too.
