You don't get it... Like someone said in a previous thread "cancelation by proxy". She doesn't want to be the bitch who canceled MG, and she can put the blame on the krewe captains...

You don’t get it

She clearly stated there will be no parades in 2021....she said that. Not the Krewes

Yesterday's e-mail said they were going to propose having a spring parade after the vaccine becomes available. I didn't hold out much hope for that although I started a topic about it yesterday, but what changed in 24 hours?

Oh yes, that works, and we can have thanksgiving on Memorial Day and Christmas in June

I'm honestly amazed how many people here don't understand how politics work.

It's funny, I basically said the same thing in a Saints Report thread about MG being canceled, and a mod came on and deleted my post because it was too political...

That site is a shite hole...

I love that people think this is ok. We can move Easter to August too, and then 2021 Christmas will actually be celebrated in March 2022.

Exactly, people don't get that Mardi Gras is Catholic Holiday that co-insides with Lent... Mardi Gras in the spring would be exactly what you described...

Looking forward to the gnashing of teeth over holidays going forward. Was shocked how mild the blowback was on Halloween, now the nutbars are all out in force over Thanksgiving.

Have never understood why the people eaten up with Covid hysteria are so worked up about the holidays. To listen to them, we'd be fine if it weren't for Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and so on. As if a 3 or 4 day weekend changes the whole dynamics of this. You'd think that by now people would have learned that the virus is going to run its course no matter what we do, but I guess not.

If we're allowed to have Mardi Gras in 2022 (I can't believe I just typed that sentence)

This right here is part of the problem. I am not going to go all Poli Board retard and claim I will be in the streets with a gun but when in the frick did we start thinking that we need to let the government ALLOW us to do things? There is a very real point at which enough is enough and this is the closest in my lifetime that we have gotten to that line.

Endymion is 50+ years old. I have been a member for almost half that time. The krewe likes to brag that they are the only parade that has never been cancelled.

Other parades have been rained out. Endymion has been rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday because of the weather a couple of times, but other than that they have been pretty lucky.

When everyone else cancelled in 1979 because of the police strike, Endymion paraded in Kenner. The show went on.

I guess now they won't be able to make that claim anymore.

Interesting. Was just texting with an official in St. Tammany who told me the Krewes reached out to Mandeville (of all places) about parading there. Turns out there is an Ordinance against outside Krewes parading so it wasn’t possible. How weird would that have been?
