And congress will do nothing about it further cementing themselves as nonexisting.

We are closer and closer everyday to having 1 branch of government.

Trump would've done that if not for the fraud that was the 2020 election

Are we trying to solve global warming or North American warming? Or are we just trying to grind down the people who haven't dove head first onto the green energy train?

Just checking on how to best direct my outrage.

Supreme Court bout to do work again

They will indeed...and the industry will innovate and over comply willingly as a hedge against legislation which may come in the future that is upheld by the courts...

From the linked article:
“Industry innovates and over-complies," Duffy said, citing a 1970s EPA rule that required power plants to use sulfur dioxide scrubbers. At the time, there were only three commercial scrubber units operating at U.S. power plants and just one vendor. Within a few years, there were 119 sulfur scrubbers installed and 13 vendors, Duffy said in an essay posted on the group’s website.

More recently, the U.S. power industry exceeded emissions goals set by the Obama administration in its Clean Power Plan, even though the plan was blocked by the courts and never implemented."

It doesn't have to be the law, it has to be the threat of the law and the industry will brow beat consumers with threats to finance the upgrades and surpass the proposed requirements and tell their share holders they gotta do it lest the government shut them down. At the end of the day it is going to happen because it needs to happen and will go un-noticed by consumers and investors alike...but both groups will howl like mashed kitties about being forced to do it.

You can keep your AC...it belongs to you. Your electric meter? Not so much...it does not belong to you...it belongs to the power company and they will take it when they damned well please and there is nought you can do about it. You can run your AC off a fossil fuel generator. Good luck with that....

There's that "Community" word again...

Trump solution - bomb and destroy China and India. Problem solved.

China + India = 35% of the world's pollution.

Just as companies start to layoff employees, let’s add more regulations that force them to spend hundreds of millions to modify their plants and equipment.

They’re laying off so they can move the work overseas. It’s a moot point unfortunately

I had to Google that new buzzword

quote:

A fenceline community or frontline community is a neighborhood that is immediately adjacent to a company, military base, industrial or service center and is directly affected by the noise, odors, chemical emissions, traffic, parking, or operations of the company. These communities are exposed to hazardous chemicals, high pollution levels, and environmental degradation along with the threat of chemical explosions.

Many fenceline communities are situated in sacrifice zones that are disproportionately inhabited by people of color, Indigenous communities, and the working poor.

Another crippling rule by an illegitimate group, the EPA, that is not elected and should have not authority to make laws.
These air emissions, coupled with the new ELG, waste water effluent guidelines, will succeed in shutting down any remaining coal burning plants. There’s almost no coal burning plants in the U.S. that can meet the standards of these regulations day in and day out.
The noose is tightening with each new rule and the regulations will eventually force every company that runs a coal burner to either spend into bankruptcy or shut their plants down. The new ELG rules take affect at the end of this month and will hasten closures that were targeted for 2030-2035, moving their closure dates to 2028, just 5 years from now.
The rule tries to appear to give companies a way out by allowing them to swap coal burners to natural gas, but if most companies could afford that and it was an effective swap, they would already have done that.
The plan is to shut down all coal burners, whether there is sufficient proof that replacement power is ready or not.

They tell us we need to make all of these changes and massively scale back coal/oil/natural gas use, but they never tell us how much the U.S. doing these things will actually benefit the planet. Is doing so going to make a major difference? If not, then there’s no point.

Gobbledygook.

Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant. Lowering CO2 won’t help with people’s health, in “frontline communities”, but will reduce the amount of available plant food. The trees and plants will be unhappy.

Natural gas is actually one of the least polluting sources of energy by far!

Even the “new” coal plants have extremely low emissions of “pollutants”.

Again, carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant.
