WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration proposed new limits Thursday on greenhouse gas emissions from coal- and gas-fired power plants, its most ambitious effort yet to roll back planet-warming pollution from the nation’s second-largest contributor to climate change.

A rule unveiled by the Environmental Protection Agency could force power plants to capture smokestack emissions using a technology that has long been promised but is not in widespread use in the U.S.

“This administration is committed to meeting the urgency of the climate crisis and taking the necessary actions required," EPA Administrator Michael Regan said during Thursday’s announcement.

The new rule will “significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants, protecting health and protecting our planet," Regan said. The plan would not only “improve air quality nationwide, but it will bring substantial health benefits to communities all across the country, especially our frontline communities ... that have unjustly borne the burden of pollution for decades," Regan said in a speech at the University of Maryland.

Just as companies start to layoff employees, let’s add more regulations that force them to spend hundreds of millions to modify their plants and equipment.

A literal drop in the bucket compared with the increase in emissions from BRIC countries.

A faux cancer alley claim that has been scientifically refuted by the tumor registry. This is transition of wealth, like everything else these fricking assholes are doing.

They are going to punish the red, southern States by making electricity so expensive we have to forego air conditioning.

Except for the 15% who are wealthy enough to pay for it.

This is the Democrats's and EPA's response to getting slapped down by the USSC in West Virginia v. EPA. The court there started to reign some of ridiculous amount of "laws" implemented by bureaucratic government agencies as opposed to Congress. Biden and the EPA are trying to implement "laws" in accordance with the West Virginia ruling they know they wouldn't get passed in Congress. This will be just the next round it what will be an ongoing battle.

Not that I expect SCOTUS to do very much, but the EPA easily makes waiting years for a case to even get to SCOTUS unpalatable. Impose fines for non-compliance, with interest, revoke permits, etc., and powergen has no choice but to comply even in the hope that SCOTUS will eventually fix stuff.

Start investing in Mexican power generators, I'm sure they'll gladly let us pay them for power generated from "dirty" things.

They just keep making their own rules that will continue to make things more expensive.

Meanwhile, China does what the hell they want to in regards to coal and emissions.

The stupidity of the left knows no bounds and the cost of the things they want to implement in addition to the loss of functionality will be astronomical. Think about why no washing machine or dishwasher works anymore. Multiply that by 1 million to see where we are headed.

He says after probably crisscrossing the country on military and private jets letting off more carbon emissions than I could in a decade.

I'm interested in the next month after fossil fuels are prohibited. The wind sure as hell better blow hard and often forever.

Blows my mind how Biden is catering to a small, fringe community of far-left retards when the majority of the country is moderate and would rather stay with natural gas. It's obvious that the amount of lobbying money he's getting from far-left organizations is off the charts. He's more corrupt than Nixon. frick every dumbass who voted for that clown.
