Simple things we don’t think about. Country boy can survive, right? We can skin a buck, we can run a trot line…. What happens when you eat all the bucks and fish? We simply aren’t equipped to support the people where they currently reside. There will be death, there will be starvation. And there will be violence.

Agree. Also they should be able to make one that is relatively low yield by today's standards. Low yield in NY... kaboooooooom!

It's fiction. Just like what they are talking about in Israel is what is gonna be reality. Buildings are taking massive hits to cause actual damage and then it's only here and there for EMP. You are going to have other things to deal with in the area like fallout and it will be hit or miss on what works or not.
The book series had like a few renegade nukes take out like every electronic device EVAR, that's just complete fiction. It won't be near that bad. A lot of the shielding requirements are well overstated.

How do we know they haven't?
And it's a lot more complicated than just stealing a nuke. A lot more.
