I hate Musk, but this makes me hate him a little less.

In mandeville everyone is outside, we've been on the Trace, the nature trail, the lakefront, and not to mention the kids are always playing in the front lawn.
As much as this whole thing sucks economically, it's been really nice actually getting to spend time with each other

Do you people believe in states' rights or not? These shelter-in-place orders are coming from the state level or below. You're proposing a federal law that will override state laws, and it ain't gonna happen.
You need to read the 10th Amendment slowly, over and over again, and then read the 1st Amendment followed by the 14th Amendment.
State law does NOT trump federal law.

The Twitter woke crowd is lighting his arse up. He went from their God to a “capitalist billionaire a-hole” instantly
He fell out of their favor awhile ago with the whole government funding fiasco. Most shunned him as a corrupt weirdo, even though they still buy his cars

I absolutely hope there is some legislation passed that prevents something this drastic in the future.
It's truly outrageous.
We ALREADY have a law addressing this. It starts off "We the people..."
What we need are politicians that have a healthy fear of and respect for the people.

State law does NOT trump federal law.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_power_(United_States_constitutional_law)
quote:
In United States constitutional law, police power is the capacity of the states to regulate behavior and enforce order within their territory for the betterment of the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of their inhabitants. Police power is defined in each jurisdiction by the legislative body, which determines the public purposes that need to be served by legislation. Under the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, the powers not delegated to the Federal Government are reserved to the states or to the people. This implies that the Federal Government does not possess all possible powers, because most of these are reserved to the State governments, and others are reserved to the people.

quote:
“President Trump is wrong as a matter of constitutional law,” Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of Berkeley Law at the University of California, told us via email.
“Quarantine and stay-at-home orders are entirely the decision of the state governors,” he said. “States have the police power and the authority to quarantine. The President has no authority to override such orders and order the country open. No federal statute gives the President such authority. Nor did the President order sheltering in place; he can exhort, but the orders come from state and local governments.”
I'm not commenting on Trump's claim of executive power, but the statement that states have the police power and authority to quarantine. That's why I said it ain't gonna happen.
Oh, one more:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States%27_rights
quote:
In American political discourse, states' rights are political powers held for the state governments rather than the federal government according to the United States Constitution, reflecting especially the enumerated powers of Congress and the Tenth Amendment. The enumerated powers that are listed in the Constitution include exclusive federal powers, as well as concurrent powers that are shared with the states, and all of those powers are contrasted with the reserved powers—also called states' rights—that only the states possess.
I used the term "states' rights" correctly.
