The founder of the world's leading electric car company calls for more oil and gas production. And for more nuclear energy output.

quote:

CNET

Elon Musk over the weekend pushed for greater oil and gas output and urged Europe to turn toward nuclear power for its energy needs. The Tesla chief's tweets came as US gasoline prices rose and a Ukrainian nuclear plant was seized amid Russia's war in Ukraine.

"Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately," he tweeted Friday. "Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures."

quote:

"Hopefully, it is now extremely obvious that Europe should restart dormant nuclear power stations and increase power output of existing ones," he tweeted. "This is *critical* to national and international security."

The US Embassy in Kyiv on Friday, in a tweet, called Russia's attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant a war crime. And the invading forces are advancing toward another nuclear plant, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told US lawmakers over the weekend.

Many countries have phased out nuclear power after accidents like partial meltdown of Pennsylvania's Three Mile Island reactor in 1979, Ukraine's Chernobyl meltdown in 1986 and Japan's Fukushima disaster in 2011. The Chernobyl meltdown happened while Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union; the former plant's site is currently occupied by Russian forces.

I really hope he calls out Biden and his administration by name on why we don’t use our resources to help everybody in this country.

Elon has said electric vehicles are going to take a huge hit because Russia's nickel mines have been cut off and the remaining metals are being shipped by Russia to China. The US is in deep shite if they think electric vehicles are coming on board in large numbers anytime soon.

And what is the plan to force that to happen?

If we just allowed Elon to evolve into his final form, he would fly the Iron Man Mark 25 suit right up Putin’s arse right now and end this thing.

The biggest hurdle to nuclear development is finding a place to do it. I’ve consulted on 4 projects and each one was attacked by lawyers and local politicians as soon as it word got out that we were looking. It killed each one of them before they could ever get to any type of regulatory phase.

Surprisingly Louisiana has done something right here. Two of the largest cities there are powered by nukes. Weatherford and Riverbend.

We need to start planning on how to renovate/replace these stations. Energy prices will go through the roof if these plants close.

Because it takes too long for politicians to launder tax money through it.

I think the big challenge to overcome is to stop using batteries made with nickel and other rare earth metals.

There's a ton of research right now into aluminum batteries that will solve this issue.

And it is 70 year old tech. We should have gone nuclear across the country long long ago.

Well since Nuclear energy was first introduced in 1954 you have incidents like:

Three Mile Island (1979)
Chernobyl (1986)
Fukishima (2011)

They dont happen often, but when they do, it gets pretty messy.

Will another incident ever happen again?
