What would happen if I were to plug a 3W COB, DC12V, LED patio light into an outdoor extension cord that's plugged into a 110V ext wall outlet? If this isn't safe, please advise otherwise with a better alternative.. Thanks!

I dot know but make sure you have one hand in a bucket of water when you do it.

Not sure what COB means off hand. Did this LED come with the cord attached?
Do you mean "corn" cob?

I wouldn’t plug a cob into any outlet.

You need an inverter. Read the specs.

Requires DC voltage, not AC. Shouldn't even have a receptacle end. Get an inverter/transformer to step it down to 12v DC.

Unless you built this in your garage, the light has an adapter built into the plug to connect to house power.

ETA- if the light cord has a "regular" two-prong power cord, from the manufacturer, it is safe.

Why can’t I put two dimmer switches onto a three way light circuit?

please turn on a video recorder first, dont be selfish and die without letting us all laugh at you.

12v direct current bulb connected to 110v alternating current will go off like a firecracker or just a flash bulb, its a 50/50 either one

gmac, it didn't.. I questioned why the hell it didn't so I added one using the plug end of an indoor extension cord.. And now realizing I shouldn't have done that.. Is the inverter/transformer still your answer..

You need to bring the voltage down, you will just ruin the bulb

you can, just needs to be a master/remote system. Lutron maestro series will do the trick

bee Rye, actually I barely did but realized really fast I shouldn't had.. I haven't tried testing it since.. Do you believe the light is fried?

Don’t know, could be ok. You can get a transformer for about $25

The smell usually tells you.

QuietTiger, there was no smell..
Ok.. I'll try the transformer route.. Seems to be the least dangerous path for me anyway.. So I need to eliminate the splice job I did for the transformer method to work?

Need to put the transformer somewhere between the 120 and the socket that will have the 12v lamp
