I never said there is one. There is room in the world for both fossil fuels and other forms of energy. Thinking we need to be completely away from fossil fuels by 2030 is retarded and shitting on solar because ItS LiBrUL is retarded too.

Again, has anyone in this thread, or anywhere on TD, ever stated that there's a non-nuclear alternative power source that could do that?

It's not a gotcha if no one has ever claimed that.

Generations at the point of demand, i.e resi solar is probably the best thing that could happen for grid stability. And even better with storage bolted on.

Our power went out early this morning, my neighbors whole house solar powered battery backup system ran out of power by mid afternoon. They have now brought in a diesel generator to keep the house warm. Screw green energ, give me fossil fuel.

One source of energy will power a grid. The other will not.

Next question.

The reliability isn’t there for on demand generation in solar and wind. Cloudy day or windless day and you’re fricked. Natural gas is easily stored and burned as needed. Also, without storage tech improving drastically it will never be able to replace oil and gas. I’d be investing in battery R&D tech if I had boatloads of cash. Eventually it will happen but you are naive if you think we are less than 15 years from a non-petroleum fueled power grid.

I’ll make sure and let the several thousand systems I’ve helped fund that are off grid that their system is unreliable even though they haven’t imported a single watt since PTO.

Read some more of my posts. I am not a greenie, proponent of all renewable, etc. I was simply refuting someone discounting resi solar. It has its place. Not everywhere, but at scale it does help the grid. There is data of this from Puerto Rico.

Also you are correct and ESS being a good place to park some money. The current tech is improving quickly but still a long way to go. I have an off grid capable system with 4 PW2s on a 40kWh ground mount, so I’m personally familiar with it beyond the 100,000+ solar only and 20,000+ Solar and ESS systems I’ve reviewed for work.

And add to this the fact that there is not a way to store tge energy these produce...yet !

The system wasn’t sized properly then or the house didn’t have the proper solar resources to support a full off grid system. It’s not a fix for everyone. Again my point is it supports grid stability not that every house will have produce enough juice to cut the cord,

Is there some sort of law that we can only have one source of energy at a time?

If you want a stable grid right now? Yes.

Next question.

Yeah I went a little overboard, but it is for 2 house and one was built in the 1870s so the retroed electricity is about as inefficient as it gets. Also I got a smoking deal on it all directly from Tesla as a test setup when I was qualifying the PW2 for some ITC investment.

ETA how much ammo you got? We might be able to work something out if it hits the fan

And 150 years ago if I wanted to go to California I had to take a train. And 30 years ago if I wanted to send you an email I had to unplug my phone. What's your point?

I asked two questions in my previous post. Don't worry about it though. I got my answer already.

Right now just a few hundred rounds of 9mm and .308. I have the Army to thank for making it almost impossible to own firearms and galivant across the globe like I did for 8 years.

However I do know a fellow baw who has about 500 acres in West Virginia who's arsenals rivals the state National Guard.
