Like I said, if you have the money you can own any machine gun made today. A M240, MK 19, and M2 if you want. Any infantry soldiers carry today can be bought. Sniper rifle? No problem. If you have the cash there is nothing you cant own except nuclear weapons.
You're fricking with me right?
What the frick is a "sniper rifle"?
You can't just throw money around and get a modern fully-automatic gun legally and easily. There's only around 200k fully automatic weapons that can be easily traded and I guarantee you that no one with the intent to kill will be dropping a ton of money to get an old arse fully auto gun.

But damn I didn't know it costs THAT much.
They were outlawed in 1986 so any new fully auto weapons for civilian use haven't been produced since then. The stock of those guns gets smaller all of the time as they break or go missing so the price goes up constantly. $15K may be on the low side these days honestly. $25k+ is probably more accurate for one that's in good shape. The ATF tracks them closely and by last count, there was only a bit over 169K left that one can legally own.
The cheaper, and currently legal option, is to buy an AR and put a Slide Fire stock on it.

Accuracy has to suck with that thing obviously.

Ruger actually sells a Gatling gun type set up that used 2 .22 receivers that has a hand crank that puts out 4 bullets With every turn of the crank. I've been thinking of buying one.

No you can't. A fully auto weapon that a civilian can legally own hasn't been produced since 1986 and, as I already posted, the ATF closely tracks them. You aren't going to buy a newer weapon like a SCAR, TAR, etc in fully auto. A lof of special forces currently use LMT rifles. You aren't going to find a modern LMT in fully auto either.
Read up on things and quit spreading bullshite.

This is a modern firearm.
They were first produced in 1983 so they are under the 1986 manufacturing cut off. Contact that seller and I will bet you any amount you want to that it was produced prior to 1986.
You are spreading bullshite and really need to go read about it.
Quit spreading lies!

The domestic manufacture of new machine guns that civilians could purchase was effectively banned by language in the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 (also known as "McClure-Volkmer"). The language was added in an amendment from William J. Hughes and referred to as the Hughes Amendment.[40] Machine guns legally registered prior to the date of enactment (i.e. May 1986) are still legal for possession by and transfer among civilians where permitted by state law. The static and relatively small number of transferable machine guns has caused their price to rise, often over $10,000, although transferable Mac-10 and Mac-11 submachine guns can still be purchased for around $5,500.[citation needed] Machine guns manufactured after the FOPA's enactment can be sold only to law enforcement and government agencies, exported, or held as inventory or "dealer samples" by licensed manufacturers and dealers. Machine guns made after 1986 for law enforcement but not transferable to civilian registration are usually priced only a few hundred dollars more than their semi-automatic counterparts, whereas a pre-Hughes Amendment registered machine gun that can be legally transferred commands a huge premium.

So get an FFL and you too can legally own it.

You have to jump through many hoops to buy a automatic gun and they are expensive. This is why these guns are almost never used to commit a crime. One has not been used in recent years.
I'm sorry - this will be incendiary. If the above statement holds true for automatic weapons, why doesn't it hold true for all guns?
Non-incendiary question: What's a legitimate reason to get approved to have an automatic? People that own gun ranges?

You really think it's that simple?
It's inventory. A dealer can't take that inventory for personal use. It has to be accounted for at all times and the ATF can come by any time they feel like it and demand to go through your inventory for starters.
That's not counting the tedious application process and everything else you have to do to stay in compliance.
Just accept that you were talking out of you arse and I taught you something today. Nothing wrong with being humbled from time to time. It happens to us all.

Technically, they shouldn't be outlawed either but they are.

Also, the idea that a civilian with no weapons training could handle a fully automatic weapon is laughable.
Posted on 6/13/16 at 7:36 pm to stout
I never said you could shoot it. I said you could own it. Yes I did learn something from your article but lets not pretend its impossible to own a modern machine-gun. Anyone with lots of money can buy something the majority cant. The Cartel and War Lords do it every day.
