I know Joe both personally and professionally. I agree with this statement.

Problem is you have all these special interests that come and hijack the board meetings and nothing gets accomplished

At least they had sense to set parameters so the meetings can end timely, they were going until midnight or later since they have to start at 5 so public can attend

Also famous for trying to talk about things not even on the agenda

Progressive leftists. They went dirty in the ad campaign.

I couldn’t care less what letter these candidates have behind their name. The EBR school board just needs people who care.

I was going to vote for Nathan Rust against Jill Dyason. I have nothing against Jill (I've known her since we were students at LSU), but she's been on the board for quite a long time and perhaps it's time for a new person in her seat. However, this all changed when I started getting super negative flyers from the Rust campaign which really turned me off to him. I also get the vibe that Mr. Rust may be using the EBR Parish School Board as a springboard to a bigger office.

So it’s Rust against Dyason?

I don’t know anything about either candidate, but I see nothing wrong with someone proving themselves as an effective school board rep. and then moving up the ladder.

In some instances that's not too bad, but something about this guy just rubbed me the wrong way, particularly after his attack ads.

I have no opinion of either person. Vote for who you want, I was just commenting about the general principle of starting small, proving yourself and then climbing the ladder.

Gotcha, so I should vote for Kennison (D) for District 8 instead of Britt (I).

Minor salary, about $800/month. No pension. Most of us just care about kids. I am 69 years old. No other political ambitions for me.

Hello Sir, You can call me at 225-229-5584 if you would like to heard about all of the progressive changes happening in EBRPS. Things have and are changing. Just yesterday we were awarded a $3.5 million dollar competitive grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This is not your old EBRPS>

Just FYI, there are 24 charter schools in EBR. No charter school has an "A" rating. One charter school has a "B" rating, 6 charter schools have a "C" rating and the other 17 are "D" or "F". 71% of charter schools are "D" or "F". Meanwhile, EBRPS has seven "A" rated schools, six "B" rated schools and sixteen "C" rated schools. Yes, we have other schools rated "D" and "F" but less than charter schools on a % basis. Main determinate of a school's score is the economic position of the students. All of our "D" and 'F" schools have 85% or more economically disadvantage students.
