You know, Kip, for the most part really hasn't been that bad outside of the St. George debacle. He's been good for developing downtown and getting major infrastructure improvements. Crime is even down some thanks to the Brave program. We're about to realize just how good we've had it.

Remember that time Denise Marcelle gave a pedo/rapist/guy-that-pissed-on-someone-against-their-will a key to the city?

Agreed that the choices aren't that great but again, I would take Delgado over broome any day of the week.

Broome is gonna be nothing but a Denise marcelle/judge Trudy white POS.

Which ones? I'm not for Delgado but him being responsible for Mud and Water isn't true.

It's strange to me how South Baton Rouge has acted like Kip neglected them. Unlike previous mayors, Kip didn't cash in on lucrative project developments and instead he greatly improved infrastructure in South Baton Rouge. Kip has gotten more done for South BTR infrastructure than the previous 4 good ol boy white mayors combined.

It's only fitting that Kip tries to block an unrealistic and unnecessary legislation for north btr.

Holden's not the brightest, but he does care about Baton Rouge. And that is much more than can be said about the scumbags on the metro council.

Huh? Kip is very sharp.

We will never have a mayor that ran the city-parish's finances as well as he did. He is a VERY good budget manager.

Baton Rouge has the best credit rating in the state now.

The next mayor will be the return of shady real estate deals and section 8 housing deals.

What's gonna happen if they improve NBR is the same as in every other city in the US.

Property cost will go up and then the residents in that area will be crying about gentrification. The excuse will be a white man, Delgado, did it to run the black folks out.

When he actually was attempting to make things nicer, the opposite will occur.

It will go up at first. Once crime still occurs, no decent business will want in anyway but at first the gentrification cry will occur and that will be the excuse for a while but as always NBR will just be NBR and it will collapse into poverty anyway right back to what it is now.

The only major developments I know of in NBR in the past few years are the section 8 housing complexes that have been built in the Hollywood, Greenwell St, and Airline Hwy area.
A developer with deep pockets could go in the area buying cheap land and make a good profit selling or developing more section 8 apartments.

Is moving more people on low incomes in an area that lacks grocery stores, lacks jobs, and medical services helping to develop NBR or will the proposal help developers make more money with no positive improvement?

Willy Daniel runs the behind the scenes but Kip has still been a great mayor. Anyone who thinks otherwise is mad he's a democrat. He loves his city, likes attention and is willing to support worthy causes even if he looks like a buffoon. Development has been great in the last decade, crime has gone down(or at least concentrated) and Baton Rouge has moved up in a lot of rankings.

Also, Kip was right to veto this. It is a great idea in principal just like the North BR health district. The problem is there is not plan connected to it. No concentrated effort in a very specific geographic area. Random businesses sprouting up all over 1/4 of the city while not paying property taxes will not promote further development. Just like the TIFs downtown, the purpose is to one day not need them and there should be a metric for determining that but this did not address that.

That's exactly what I want to do. Bring business to a crime ridden shithole

I'm ok with incentives/ TIFFS to get business there as long as they don't destroy or steal everything while it's being built. The area needs to be thoroughly defined.

There is nothing wrong with TIFs or tax incentives if there is a plan.
