EBR DPW Apparently does not pick up “construction” debris anymore.

Contractor debris has never been allowed. But apparently resident-generated construction debris is no longer as well.

And they want to charge you when you show up to north landfill to drop it off for free as you’re allowed.

I've never been charged to bring junk to the dump. Has that recently changed?

She said she should be charging me. And for the past time when I told her I didn’t have to stop at the scale…

You sure? I know they resisted picking mine up until I pointed out that the EBR DPW website says it will be picked up. They conceded it was in their contract and dams to get it. You might check the website and then call a supervisor and your City Councilperson. They don’t like to do it but will when pressed is my experience.

IMHO contractors should haul off all theif debris, commercial or residential.

Now if it's in the trash pick up Guy's contract then they need to honor their contract.

But it should never been put in there.

I’m going on 4 weeks of calls to 311...half the pile is still there.

When I spoke to the supervisor and said there’s lumber, and two doors she said “we don’t pick up doors per our contract” when I said “but your website...” click.

Agreed. What I have is resident-generated debris.

If it's not a construction job, they should pick it up.

Dump it On a vacant lot near the Exxon plant? No problem the city I’ll pick it up on one of its “cleanup days”… But a resident working on his house? Nah… We want your money.

Yep. I’ve told them that at least 6 times now.

I have been faking exactly what services the city and the parish provide to citizens from our two cent city/parish sales tax.

In the unincorporated areas folks have these services paid for by dedicated taxes:
EMS
BREC
Library
Sheriff/law enforcement
Mosquitto control
Sewer
Trash/garbage
Schools
Road maintenance
COA
Assessor
Fire protection

What is left?
What is the city parish providing folks for our two cents?

Permitting and inspections-yes
Cleaning/maintaining ditches and canals-yes
River Center-yes
What else????

They’ve picked up plenty of lumber and doors from my house recently.
