I took it to a shipping place and paid $30 more for a box and packing materials and left it for them to ship.

That's where you need to start and I wouldn't leave anything at the shipping place. I'd take it myself.

1) Don't create shipping labels with them directly b/c they make $$ out of that shipping option convenience

Poor advice. eBay gets and gives a healthy discount on shipping so unless you have an account that gets a better one with the shipping company you are using labels printed directly from eBay vs Click and Ship are cheaper, even if they make some money in the process. Also the tracking information goes directly into the eBay system and is forwarded to the buyer with no chance of input error. Further some of the buyer protections are only avaiable if you use their labels but those may only be ones afforded to Top Rated Sellers I am not sure about regular sellers.

This is what I’m confused on. Why go shop it if you haven’t been paid for it yet? That makes no sense.

The other two things I have sold it shows the funds are in my ebay account but it holds them until the buyer receives the item and then they get deposited into my bank account.

Yes I have a tracking number. It says label created but it was never received by USPS.

You're screwed.

Rule one of selling on eBay is never ship with USPS

Is that not the company they use in their shipping labels?

That's a company they offer.... USPS is notorious for stealing packages or losing them. The fact that it never reported as being picked up or scanned in means that you dont even have a claim with USPS.

It is A logistics company they sell labels for but not THE company. They also sell labels for UPS and USPS.

Also probably 75% of eBay sales are shipped with USPS and since Lejoy quit slowing transfers down on purpose they are back to being very reliable. When someone argues they aren't reliable for eBay shipping ask them if they can show a seller hub screenshot with tens of thousands of sales.

I am a part owner in a business that uses eBay as one sales portal and deal with the business side of shipping regularly, and USPS is as stable as FedEx or UPS but I deal with stats not anecdotes.

The OP's issue is not making sure it ever got in the carriers hands and not following up to make sure it was moving through the system and was delivered.

Note for the people downvoting my pointing out eBay has good shipping discounts and not using their labels is bad advice. Here you can see some of the shipping options straight from an item my company sold today and you can see the discounts listed for each service.

So, Ebay is completely worthless. All I get from them is people who can't speak English on the phone reading off a script or Emails with the same scripted bullet points about why they refunded the buyer (which I totally understand). Complete failure to acknowledge that they removed money from my bank account even though I never received funds from the sale.

Just got word that USPS denied my lost package claim (have to wait 7-10 days for the explanation letter) even though the label was insured (according to ebay) and I provided my receipt having dropped it off as well as information from the office store that it was picked up by USPS.

My rage level is at infinity with these people. I am 100% being robbed. Anybody have any guidance on where to go from here?
