East Lansing: What's there to do?

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to check out, places to eat/drink, tailgating dos/don'ts etc? Some friends and I are going to the Oregon game on Saturday but will arrive Friday morning to see the town and campus. Gameday experiences and suggestions (can we pull off student tickets?) would be greatly appreciated
We're actually planning to stay Thursday night in Ann Arbor, so suggestions for things to do at UM would also be helpful.
TIA

When in Ann Arbor, talk poorly of Ohio State.
When in East Lansing, talk poorly of Michigan.
You'll fit right in.

Tailgate on N. Side of campus (not as many cops) and it's a pretty fun time (also prettier part) and you can see the band. We usually tailgate near the MSU union area. Open containers are fine on game day. The team walks from the Kellogg hotel on the west side and there's the Spartan statue, which they touch on their way in. For bars, I liked Harper's and Dublin Square has good food. They have a new one called HopCat, but that was put in after I left 2 years ago.

AA is where I'm from originally and there's quite a bit. Some good bars/restaurants too along main street area. Campus is a pretty good walk. I really enjoy the parks in that city.

There are tours of the Big House, but I think you have to schedule them in advance.
Google it to find out.

There are some nice ones.
I like (not good on names) County park ( east side of town ) and some one Bird something on the west side by the river.

It's been a long time since I lived in Ann Arbor, but (depending on your age) I'd think about hitting South U. bars for the sorority babes, and / or the Blind Pig for a grown up bar that will probably have good music. Plenty of places to eat (my favorite was always the Fleetwood), and Zingerman's has a pretty much nationwide rep now. Ann Arbor was always a pretty nice place to be, sort of an east coast happening place vibe, but much more laid back.
