God knows he's dished it out to many people. Karma is a bitch and while i admired his early work, I haven't caught the news in 8 years or so.

If you own a trucking business and run a fleet, you insure that fleet for all instances. BRPD is no different.

An emergency vehicle with lights and siren turned on has the right of way. The only way the cop is realistically at fault in that situation is if there is other evidence of negligence not presented in the article - for example, if his lights and siren were turned off.
Otherwise it’s either no fault, fault of the other driver for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, or fault of the POS running from the police.
Again - if the lady who got hit had died, the fleeing suspect would have been charged with felony murder.

OK? Not sure what your point is here. The question is not whether BRPD is insured. It’s whether BRPD is liable.
All I’m saying is that a crash that occurred during a police chase, without any actual evidence of negligence by BRPD, is a weird example to use in this article.

Oh yes, the Mayor's office can leak a story like this to Wbrz to take heat off of her stormwater corruption. Only $350k over 2 yrs for a hazard profession where every second of every day could present a Murphy's Law scenario. Non-story in the grand scheme of things designed to deflect.
