Around the closest star to our Sun, Proxima Centauri. It might be possible to send probes there within a human lifetime.

A spacecraft traveling the same speed as New Horizons (Pluto pics craft) could probably make it there in just under 80 thousand years.

Some genius will declare it's too small to be called a planet and scrub the mission. Then redeclare it a planet 5 years later.

Some crazy stuff there.

Some time, years ago someone posted a science fiction short story on the OT in a thread that really was all about this vast universe type stuff. If I remember correctly it dealt with the universe and humans understanding of it over time (thousands of years) and even the end of the universe. There was some object that it centered around but I can't remember what they called it. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd like to read it again. Sorry for worlds worst/most vague description

More like 11.7

But the game ends in 2020 so it's a moot point. Thanks, Hillary.

That's really cool. Honestly, its feasible we can send a probe there within 100-150 years. I couldn't imagine that wouldn't be the first interstellar target.

Proxima Centauri sends out regular blasts of radiation, so that planet gets zapped frequently.

Voyager is the fastest human space craft in existence. It would take Voyager 76,000 years to reach that star.
