Dusty would often say he was second only to Muhammad Ali.
Then, while driving with Bruce Prichard, they got pulled over by the police. The cop was excited to meet Brother Love, but had no idea who Dusty was. Prichard never let him hear the end of it.
"Second most recognizable athlete in the entire world... second only to Brother Love."

I read this topic title as - Dustin Rhodes has mange, and thought that was absolutely the most oddball topic title that I’ve seen today

Dusty Rhodes is the case study for why having skills on the mic is the most important thing in wrasslin....he couldn't work worth a shite, he couldn't sell worth a shite, he didn't look worth a shite, but anything he said on the mic in any capacity turned into absolute solid gold.....not many have that talent....him, Flair, Stone Cold, Rock, Cena....not many more. You could argue that only him and Rock could stand in the middle of the ring and have the crowd eating out of their hand no matter what they said (so much of Flair's great stuff was recorded or done behind a camera in the back).

He and PS Hayes and Jim Cornette and Flair. They were all 4 magical.

This is some inside humor from the Something to Wrestle With podcast.

I know this is a reference but, interestingly enough, he is only the fourth most famous graduate of Arlington Heights High School in Ft. Worth behind:
Lee Harvey Oswald
John Denver
Bill Paxton
Maybe Mike Renfro too?
