To interpret the law in this way is retarded. Your identity obviously does not change, but it is quite easy for an expired ID to change hands.

It's just very simply a fact that if expired ID could pass as proof of age, expired IDs would be sold to underage people all the time. So we either have to disallow them as proof of age/identity, or make them never expire. Personally, I think it's a good thing that driver's licenses expire.

That's actually smart if you're trying to avoid viruses.

Then why does the FEMA Hurricane Harvey home rebuilding program accept expired ID’s? An even expired Mexican Consular ID to approve people getting free $250,000 houses built for them?

Expired ID’s prohibiting you from buying beer or cashing a check is stupid as frick.

Nope. I want control of my identity. Not an idiot DMV attendant, store clerk or other gate keepers.

Good day, sir.
I said good day.

Are you actually trying to use FEMA as a government entity that does anything that makes any sort of sense?

You really grasping at straws now.

If I was in the market to sell fake IDs, it wouldn't have to be an expired one. I don't know why that is what throws up flags to say, "OH IT MUST BE A FAKE!"

I'm guessing you think somebody wearing all black with a black knit cap is also going to be the ones trying to break in your house too?

Just an example that what you may think is set in stone is flexible when there is enough pushback.

Expired ID’s not being able to provide proof of identity and age is incredibly stupid.

You don't think at some point during the process of building a fricking house that their identity is verified? Come on, man.

Nah, it's just a very simple and rational rule put in place to cut off an easy avenue for fraud. Nothing at all to get upset about. And it's damn sure not communism.

How do you suggest we verify identity if not via an authoritative 3rd party?

It’s verified and expired ID’s are used without blinking an eye in this process.

Increases in coercion directly correspond to the rise of communism. At some point, you’ve got to just say no rather than idly watch it grow.

The aim is to keep the roughly half a million LA licenses that expire every year from being sold for a few bucks or given to someone else. It's a really simple and effective rule to prevent underage drinking and gambling, or other forms of identity fraud.

What kind of idiot are you? Nobody thinks an expired ID is fake. In fact, it's more likely to be REAL, but also more likely that it doesn't belong to whoever is presenting it.

And you picked this to be the issue to make your stand? Requiring valid ID to purchase booze?

Technological solutions are coming into the market around the world.

When you go buy your booze and the clerk asks for your ID, why must you provide him with information on where you live when all he need is to know if you are of age?

Multi-factor authentication will solve this. Enter the four digits that are texted to you and the clerk gets a green light confirming it is you and the transaction is approved.

And you retained your privacy.

Don’t be a simpleton. It’s just a concept example.

Ok bro, I'll take your word for it that FEMA is just giving out houses to people that they aren't meant for, and no one is ever the wiser.

Ah, right, the slippery slope of communism. Today, expired documents are considered invalid. Tomorrow, my house isn't mine anymore.
