Author of this article is another ignorant A-hole!

Is this where people come in and act like the succession was not primarily over the ability to keep slavery?

You do realize the statues of confederate generals, etc...these men were all pardoned by the United States president

Might the UK equivalent be Cromwell?

1899 they erected a statue of him at Parliament.

Your emotion does not not make correct your contention.

Yet this isn't a painting or a bust. It's a full statue of a traitor to the crown and the Commander of forces for the treasonous nation.

And somehow, there aren't effeminate males gathered around it trying to take it down.

It's a matter of time before one of these Historically Black colleges is found to be named after a slave owner.

Interesting thought. The English civil war was different than the US civil war, but maybe those differences don't matter in this case.

The main difference though is ultimately, in the long run, Parliament (Cromwell) won. The monarch is a figurehead now, parliament reigns supreme, so Cromwell is a safe figure. Except for maybe the Irish who might hold a grudge.

The civil war was not fought over slavery!

You really think some guy who is raising his family in Maine is going to ride his horse from there to south Mississippi and fight in a war just because some guy is using slaves on his farm?
C'mon man....... People of the North actually kept slaves post civil war. Let that sink in for a few minutes... Put the wiki down and read a history book.

Both sides are dumb.

Who gives a shite either way over some statues, no one thought a damn thing either way about them till one side wanted them down.

Neither side knew or cared these statues even existed 1-2 years ago but like two toddlers they are digging in their heels just because the other side wants something different.

That raises a disturbing problem.

Cromwell was a bigot and a tyrant, but let's get back to the US. The Founders and the Rebels were both guilty of racism and slavery. So if you're OK with the former, the issue can't be that.

If the issue is treason, both groups were guilty, with the difference being the Founders won and the Rebels lost.

But if that's the difference, the argument is literally reduced to might makes right.

"Someone doesn't like a statue I like" is not retarded. Get upset about actual issues where SJWs are causing harm.

the next time you go off spewing facts about black folk, ask yourself this

what about the other 30%?

how do you think it feels as a guy from african american heritage who knows both his parents who wasn't born out of wedlock whose parents have college degrees when he gets lumped in as just a statistic

i said something on my home board the other day and some dude just randomly said something along the lines of "what building did you protest today" like why because im' black I must be poor, ignorant, fatherless etc

see when you say 70% what you are really saying is all. I'm not my brother's keepers. i can't control the fact that shinequa is a fricking thot who can't keep her legs closed and keeps popping out kids, i can't control the fact she keeps choosing deadbeats to have kids by. I can't control that she would rather go too the club than to help her with her kids homework.

But by saying shite like that you are slighting all the black men who do handle their business, all the black women who do make good and prudent decisions, who have jobs, who pay bills, etc.

instead of holding the few black people up as examples, you take the easy route and lump all black people in with the ones you want to visualize every black person as to fit your agenda. that's the problem.

you can say rap music, "culture" is the problem but just as much as that, is non white people talking about and holding up ghetto people as examples instead of cultured black folk as examples

you see us at your job,k you see us at the grocery store you just don't' care cause we don't fit your agenda.

White people aren't allowed to dislike traitors to the US ?

Why are people today more qualified to judge figures and actions of the past than people who lived during that time period?

Dixie was played at the White House at Lincoln's request at the conclusion of the war. Union and Confederate veterans rode and marched together in parades after the war, but people today are offended and frightened? 150 years after the war we're removing statues and covering busts? GTFO.

It's nothing but a political wedge issue driven by those who can't win elections on actual policy, hence the stirring up of faux outrage. It's disgusting.

What are you even talking about?

My point is, people bitching about statues will simply find another reason to bitch and moan when every single statue is removed.

Statues aren't causing teenagers to be parents.
Statues aren't causing high crime rates involving minorities.
Statues aren't causing children to be raised with no father figure.
Statues aren't causing the plight of minority groups.

I could go on and on. Should we expect minorities to thrive once all statues are removed? Because I have news for you, nothing will change....because their issues have ZERO to do with fricking statues.
