Wouldn't it make more sense to ask the White House since they're the ones making the recommendation?

Sure but it's a recommendation, not a mandate. From JBE it would be a mandate and our local media will be in the room to ask him these questions. Also our contact tracing that LDH published percentages on the community spread from everyday should have some data to show that restaurants are in fact a problem.

Again, I ask, why the hell is anything to do with this damn virus an "All or nothing" approach? Is it impossible to manage hotspots without shutting entire states or entire industries in a state down?

One problem: the people in the hotspots going to the next area over and spreading it because they are more open.

We saw that with tigerland. When that area shut down, all the morons who were there the weekend before and we're exposed or infected just went to the Overpass and midcity areas. Then those areas saw closures.

You just can't rely on people to be responsible enough to take that sort of approach.

Trump really has been all over the place with this covid stuff. Can't seem to figure out where he truly stands on the whole thing. I feel like his tweets proclaiming the economy should open back up is just to keep his hardcore base loyal to him, all while he turns around and suggests tighter restrictions to governors.

He’s playing both sides. If public opinion shifts to “open it up” he’ll just fire everyone and say “that’s what I’ve been saying all along.” If public opinion shifts to “shut it down” he’ll say the administration has recommended this all along. And as long as opinion remains split, he’ll just use the divisions to fire up his base against the libs. Because that’s what passes for leadership nowadays.

His base has enabled him in this regard from day one. Whenever he says something absurd it’s “watch what he does, not what he says.” But whenever the administration does something stupid it’s because of out-of-control bureaucrats. The behavior has been there, it’s just amplified when there’s a real crisis.

I’m absolutely stunned he’s kept Fauci around

See my last post. Fauci is still around because it’s hard to scapegoat someone if everyone knows you hand-picked them for the job.

He’s a heel for the base, and he’s a hedge in case things get worse.

If Trump says to close it down the Dems will open it up. There is no way JBE will do what Trump recommends.
