More than your mortgage, I'd be willing to wager.

Buying a house next year here after my wedding - and thanks for the offer but I'd like the advice of someone who is used to a much more desirable and expensive market.

I was a homeowner for years in LA, but how much sense does it make to purchase in a new city that you know next to nothing about? Anyone with common sense would recommend renting for a little while and learning where to buy, and that's what we're doing. But I doubt you've ever lived anywhere but your hometown, so you wouldn't understand what that's like, bless your little heart.

Besides, living in Nola you may be shot between now and next year (fingers crossed)

I would hope you're not paying as much rent as my mortgage is. That would just be downright dumb, but if that's what you choose to do then that's your prerogative.

I don't know,I've owned 3 houses in New Orleans over the past 15 years and have yet to be shot. I like my chances.

But good luck with your wedding.

Compared to New York, New Orleans is cheap. That's not really much of a debate

I don't think anyone is debating that NYC is or isn't expensive.
