Probably the only car that passed in a 60 minute period was this guy.
I passed that exact same spot literally 20 minutes before this happened.
quote:its my route home. Let me say that since they’ve opened, I’ve had two close calls SOBER at the EXACT same spot because there are no lights there. There’s a CrossFit gym right there and they start working out there at 430/5 AM. Guy shouldn’t have been driving shitfaced.... but that’s a VERY dangerous spot. None of those people exercising wear reflective clothing whatsoever.
google maps, it doesn't look like a busy highway. It looks like a quiet road through a neighborhood.
I didn’t know Jason, but I helped coach his kid at one point and I’ve had a conversation or two with him here and there. His kid is a great young athlete and a really good kid. Damn shame. Seemed like a good guy. Four young babies. Really sad.
ETA: Before someone takes this the wrong way, I’m not blaming anyone but the driver. All I’m saying is that the owner of that gym or the patrons need to think about being safer in that area to avoid any more accidents. I’m sure I’m not the only one having close calls on that road in the dark.

A little common sense goes a long way. It may be a “right” to ride a bike or jog on a highway but your right puts you in a very, very dangerous situation whete your safety is totally in others hands and you have no defense.
This. I'm always amazed that so called smart people that are killed while jogging or riding a bike with only a White line painted on the highway separating them from death or a wheelchair. I understand wanting to stay healthy but staying alive should come first.

I've heard your 2nd dui is a short prison sentence or house arrest if you're wealthy enough.

Who the hell is still drunk at 5:30 in the morning?
If you're .20 at closing time (2 am), you're still legally drunk at 8 am.

Exercising in traffic is dumb, legal or not. Too many texting/drunk drivers to be worth it. Any decent neighborhood is a much better choice for jogging or biking. Do laps.

Yea that’s not even close to being true

I’m sure he wasn’t IN the road. But even running on the side, it’s very very difficult to see anyone right in that spot.

Not everyone lives in a traditional neighborhood. There's plenty of precautions you can take. Wear 1 headphone instead of 2, go against traffic, reflective clothes and lights. If a car isn't shifting out of your way with like 50 yards to go, go ahead and hop off the road.

The driver crossed into the other lane and hit him and barely missing the others.

You don’t have to jog in your own neighborhood. I would do laps around a Walmart parking lot before I exercised on the highway.
