There should be a level where "grave indifference" comes into play. If you're driving with a BAC of .16, which accounts for like 70% of fatal alcohol-impaired driving fatalities, the penalties should be much steeper.

There is a wide range between "should be much steeper" and "all DUIs should have 3 year without parole minimums."

Yeah there is. I was trying to find crime other than attempted murder that might parallel a DUI. Discharging a firearm within 1000 feet of a parade shows a grave indifference to human life, thus the 3 year minimum sentence. Finding a level of BAC that would correspond to that indifference seems reasonable.

He's saying drunk drivers, of all intoxication levels, should be arrested for attempted murder, even if they don't hurt anyone.

Maybe he took it to one end of the spectrum, but you're the guy holding down the other end.

The I can do it and never hurt anyone guy. They should make the legal limit .00 and frick all you bitches that do it. What if you hit a kid "only going 25 6 blocks from your house"?

I use this specific example because I've done it countless times to our neighborhood grocery store. I'll be cooking dinner and drinking red wine and forget something so I'll go 6 blocks to the store going no faster than 25 mph to get onions or something after 2-3 glasses of wine.

Everyone thinks they can handle it, and drive short distances, and you may or may not hurt someone.

I got hit by a drunk driver who turned out to be a neighbor, less than 2 miles from our home.

Distance is irrelevant to getting behind the wheel impaired.

There is almost no way you can drive the wrong way on 167. Toxicology report will tell us what he was on, but it couldn't have just been alcohol.

I hope this guy rots in hell.

Most fricks on the OT don’t think drunk driving is a bad thing. It’s only because most of them drive drunk.

You are a POS if you drink and drive

I’m always amazed how these people have head on collisions and they are the ones that never get hurt or die.

Common sense says this dude should just be executed, he’ll never be a positive contributor to society.

Our laws are way too lax. We should be executing shitbags like this guy on a regular basis.

It always amazes me how often a drunk driver will kill or severely injure someone else whilst suffering so little injury themselves.

POS deserves the same fate that he dealt those high schoolers with his stupidity.

He blew a .091 in April of 2016 ... when he went into a ditch. News just said he lost his license for 6 months for that and was in a pretrial diversion program. He's going to court in August for that .091 related crash.

This is awful no matter how you try to look at it.

News said the wreck was 7ish ...

KATC news report said the driver and the backseat passenger side is where the two girls were ... report also said they were unrestrained. Wonder if the two boys were? Civic vs F150 .. not good.
