I guess I have the option to bundle...I have comcast internet and Att home phone...I could:

1. Ditch comcast internet and go with ATT internet
2. Ditch att home phone and use comcast for home phone.

Are home phone numbers portable these days?
How is ATT's fiber optic internet service?

Not sure, it was a somewhat basic plan that included long distance. Problem is ATT is so awful the first month or two it was hooked up they couldn't explain to me why the plan was 35-40 bucks more than what it was supposed to be, so instead of messing with is I just turned it off.

Att home phone

Can't speak for Comcast, but i'd have to believe their customer service is better than ATT's. Those people are a bunch of fricking clowns.

For those that dropped it, what number do you give out as your "home" number? if you give out your cell number, do you feel you get a bunch of pain in the arse calls?

I give my cell phone number as my home phone number. I've had the same cell number for 13 years. I'm on some circulating list somewhere, but the calls I get are just robodials -- Orlando Vacations, "Card Services" scam, free home security systems, etc. I maybe get 1 a week.

I did have U-verse phone, but ported that number to magic jack. I only have it because I'm on an old-school cell phone plan with grandfathered unlimited data and a set number of minutes, and I do conference calls from home that can last 2-3 hours or more. The only calls I seem to get to it are from Bill Cassidy, random survey companies, and obvious scams like a Nigerian named "Michael" calling from the Windows department about my computer. I don't give out that number, but it is listed in the phone book. Didn't feel like paying the couple of dollars a month for it to be unlisted.

Chicken,
If worried about giving out your cell# just get a magic jack (don't plug in phone), set up voice mail, and wait for email notification there is a communiqué waiting on you. Profit?

cox has a home phone plan that is only 9 dollars per month. It has unlimited incoming calls, but only 30 minutes per month outgoing. I only keep it for 911 issues with my kids. In an emergency I dont want to have to go searching for a cell phone.

Land lines are for work and old peoples houses.....

Depends on how "old" you are. We dropped our land line 2 years ago and haven't missed it. I put my cell number down as the main contact number for everything and had no problems.
Land lines at home are fast becoming like dinosaurs !

Yup about 8 years ago. Got tired of my $90 a month cell bill also and switched to Straight Talk. $50 for unlimited everything. So glad I did.
