i saw some in the mall yesterday...an expensive stealth drone with a go pro would be a terrific thing to have.

It goes from difficult to easy based on your speed...Getting everything set correctly (pitch, trim, etc) is the most difficult I would say..Trying to adjust things while its flying is a little scary

I wonder how common it is to crash them while learning to fly it and how durable they are

Cheap ones go for a few hundred, decent ones start around the $1500 range.

If it is something you definitely want to pursue, skip the Phantoms and spend the money for a decent one.

Start cheap..Like RadioShack 40$ cheap...Learn to fly something that fits in your hand, and the larger ones are simple

Definitely, if you can fly those shitty cheap ones, you can fly the nice ones with no issue.

We have some at work that can fly pre-programmed paths, mark GPS sites and then return home with 0 interaction during flight

It ranges from 40-60$..You can find some on Amazon too..Start with something like this though, before investing 500$ in one that you may not be able to handle..
