I would expect fixed locations to have some defense in place. It's too obvious of a vector to not. But anyone out on patrol or on the frontline is vulnerable
I read an article a while back shortly after it was evident how big of a role these drones would play because of their use in Ukraine. The US (Army or Marines, can't remember) was doing some final testing on a laser system that would be mounted to the tops of Strykers. They were over in Europe doing a bunch of testing it out on exactly what you're talking about: patrols. They were also doing some things to see if they could fit it on a smaller platform like Humvees, but didn't want to take the 50 cal away so that was looking not as promising. But if you could send out a Stryker or two with the other vehicles out on a patrol and cover the entire platoon/squad with a laser weapon that can disable drones and other stuff in the air, that would be a heck of a game changer for the first side to put it into widespread use effectively.

but it is about him sitting in a Connex box in the Nevada desert remotely piloting reaper drones and he starts to question the ethics of killing people half a world away in the middle east.
I would be surprised if any of the box pilots at Creech AFB didn't question their role and the morals of the whole concept but people's philosophical musings tend to get fast-tracked in one direction when they get shot at. After the first firefight is when most everyone begins to refer to the enemy by some derogatory slur, before that it is often just the enemy or a generic country or ethnic group name. You know things have shifted when you start getting warning orders with slurs in them.

Yeah it was just an example of needing 2-3 separate locations for it to be able to triangulate its own position I think. Whether that’s satellite, air craft, communications towers or dismounts with Los antenna. So i imagine could have three dismount teams or static positions with Los and then they would not need towers, satellites or anything.
These aren’t guided, they use a radio type frequency between the controller that uses video from the drone or visual to control the drone. They don’t need anything from a satellite or cell tower, you can use a drone offshore in the middle of the ocean. People do it every day to make videos.
You have to be able to jam the signal between the controller and the drone. Some of the more basic ones are easy to jam, I talked to someone and I can’t remember but there’s some more technical problems to jam the better ones. It may have been too many frequencies, jamming caused issues with your own devices, etc.

I suspect that troops who had been in front line combat would make the most vigilant drone operators especially over their own units. Of course, having played a lot of computer games would be good experience.

These videos make it pretty clear that there is really nowhere to hide on the battleground with today's technology in weaponry. Put unmanned drones in the air with grenade grade weaponry and it's game over for ground troops.
More than one video of troops taking their own lives after being seriously wounded and likely knowing no help would be coming to address their wounds.

Wait til we get the MIRV -style Drone canisters with AI-powered seeker heads on them. Imagine a canister dropped or fired near an area with say 200 individual hunter drones on it deployed to find infantry or vehicles. 11 Bravo will be an obsolete MOS within 20 years.

Nice viewing at 8am This is scary as shite, I hope to god they aren't used for things other than war.
It's a matter of time until countries will be using similar tactics against their own citizens.

This is a weird thought to have, but I've unknowingly been creating the perfect soldiers for modern warfare. We have a couple fairly nice DJI camera drones that they kids are getting pretty good at flying and live on some acreage where the kids can and do shoot clays regularly.

Ah! Makes sense now, it just needs to no to go right or left based off camera.
