This happened 2 years ago. He entered no contest plea. He hit this guy on a highway road, drove home waited a few days and brought his vehicle to a body shop, claiming he hit a road sign. He gets 3 year sentence with all suspended and a $1000 fine. I’ve lost all faith in the judicial system.

Brister's son did the same thing here(well he was drunk and killed a pedestrian and took off) in Baton Rouge after the Bama Game in 2022 and got the same sentence.

Rulings like this one provide incentive for all those without morals to run every time. Terrible.

Pretty sure that guy who hit (and fled) and severely injured two kids in Beau Chene got off with probation too. Disgusting

It just makes you wonder why the DA couldn’t get him on vehicle manslaughter maybe not homicide but something to get this POS to serve time. I know nothing about the criminal system

The judge who sentenced him should be sanctioned but the DA that accepted the "No Contest" plea deal with the Judge determining the sentencing should be noted as well. She's yet to take a single case to a jury and get a conviction in 4 years as DA.

Not great at all for a DA. But as for the plea, isn’t it the defendant’s choice to plead no contest and take what the judge gives? Was a deal made here?

Not getting a single conviction really has bothered me, I know some instances it’s practical to take the deal but you can’t do that everytime. It just feels like nothing is getting done.

This is what makes people seek vigilante justice.

People give up revenge in a society with the understanding that the state will take care of the justice. When the state fails to uphold that justice why would the people keep their end of the bargain?

Yes, it's the defendant's choice to plead however he chooses but only to the charges brought against him. She could have gone for more than "to hit-and-run driving and careless operation"... how about negligent homicide or DWI or something? She's weak and weak minded.

When Jeff Davis Parish lost Kevin Millican the whole parish lost out. He was a great attorney and would have been a great DA. I really feel he would have handled some of the cases alot differently.

Nothing means nothing anymore, Judge Trudy sleeps like a baby..Alexandra Engler's daughter probably not. The CIA rigs elections and kills with impunity and destabilizes the world, most all of our Senators insider trade and set bills to aid and abet such with the SEC & DOJ's blind eye blessings, etc..

I could go on and on..pray to God..don't count on society to make sense..you'll be let down.

Jerry and his family deserved better. The whole thing is sickening and disheartening.

Cyclist family should pay the driver a visit after some time has gone by and things have settled down.

Maybe a masked dude fricks up the driver in a Sonic parking lot one night.

Bingo. The problem in small rural areas is you don’t get a lot people that want the position. Hopefully the next cycle there’s a good pool of attorneys to pick from
