A part of this is being a product of THEIR prior generation. the BOLD seems contradictory to the first part.

It is, both are problems we face though with this generation. Getting fresh faces in some fields is an issue because the old guard won't give up jobs. Hell we have people with 35-40 years of experience that have pension retirements that would make more money by retiring than staying on the job and they are still on the fricking job. That is absurd. The ones that do leave, just come back as contractors to double dip. These people are also the ones to bitch about the younger generation when they are actively keeping the younger generation from getting the experience and jobs they need.

The other part is some millenials just don't want to work the same old tired garbage 40 hour desk jockey nonsense.

As huge of an over-simplification as any in this thread.

Definitely, but Dr Phil did the same thing and I wanted to tell him to F off even though he will never read it.

I understand that and agree. My point was more about the people that can't support themselves or their family on 40 hrs a week. If it takes 60 hrs a week, you have to do what you have to do.

No, NO NO!, ESG. They would just rather up the pay regardless of the output and say it is a living wage...like that ludicrous idea would work. Why someone doesn't explain to these folks why it won't is beyond me...It is not that hard. But at my age, not much is

It worked for Boomer management. They are just following that line of thought. Pay has shot through the roof for executives. Might as well do it for everyone.

To be fair, he was just citing studies.

eta: Also, before his rise to fame he actually did some very respectable work in the mental health field.

He was referring to people graduating from law school. Still, what you said isn't 'that bad'. Graduate from undergrad and grad school at ~24-25, work 6-7 years and you could be making '6 figures' by the time you are 30-32.

StarTalk Jay Leno

Recently, Jay Leno was on Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Jay touched on his Jaywalking episodes.

He said the questions were so simple that the very young and older people answered them all correctly.

He said the 20-29 year olds rarely got the right answers.

If I remember correctly, he commented about an entire generation being lost.

Then he should change the questions before their collective self-esteem is damaged.

Disciplining your children when they are young will teach them that acting like a spoiled, entitled, whiny POS brat is not ok, and in turn when they are older will likely have a higher chance of being positive contributors to society. It's not rocket surgery.

Few statistics to back this statement up.

In fact, go look at how many people in jail were disciplined in the means you called for.

I'm barely on the cusp of being a millennial, being born in 81. None of these apply to me, or anyone that I know. I don't know many younger millennials. Those that I do know are educated and live on their own, in several cases across the country from any family.

Dr. Phil, however, is a part of the worst generation that we've ever known. The baby boomers have been the most effective generation at sucking this nation dry.

Maybe younger millennials are bad, but baby boomers are much worse.

You usually get promoted based on your performance right? That's the incentive to work harder.. Why would they expect to get promoted... just because?

Millennials are going to save our world by abandoning the urban sprawl that has created so many problems for our economy and environment. Their tendency to move to urban downtowns and city centers will create walkable cities and reduce dependency on automobiles which will transform our society.

Their going to displace the urban poors..... sounds racist
