Incorrect, cash is a great place to be if you're an investor (as opposed to a trader), at least as long as you are stockpiling that cash to buy up the deals once it seems the market has bottomed out.

The idea is to buy low sell high, not buy high then sell higher.

I sold off a chunk of my portfolio over the summer, I've moved a good amount into energy but I've set aside the rest and have added my bi-monthly allotments to that cash stockpile for when I think the market is about to turn or already has.

You should put some of that into I bonds (rates are over 9.5%).

It would be an easy, big buy right here if Putin wasn't annexing territories this weekend and threatening encroachment with nukes (which seems like a very real possibility).
