Dogs were specifically genetically bred by humans to be subservient beings to us. They did not evolve naturally nor were they created by God (pick your origin). So yes, they pretty much are here for our convenience.
If desexing a dog makes it so that one can own one without problems, then I'd wager that said dog would prefer to exist desexed than not exist at all. Assuming existing is more convenient than not existing, I'd say desexing is convenient for the dog moreso than humans owning them.
