quote:

He died from jumping over my mom's 5 foot fence, knocking over my neighbors industrial garbage can, and swallowing a full size corn on the cob whole that perforated his stomach. He walked home and and was just acting like he had a stomach bug or something then he collapsed.

Incredibly sad, but I don't think he would've wanted to go out any other way. The LSU vet school people were in shock that he got it down.

Sorry to hear that. Dogs can be really dumb. Mine got into the kitchen garbage, stole a corn cob, and ran around the house chomping on it. Fixed the accessible garbage problem immediately, and we thought he puked up all the cob right away, with assistance of some H2O2. However, there was one small piece that came up a year later, and apparently the irritation from it had been causing him to spit up some yellow bile every few weeks, by which time, I had forgotten about The Corn Cob Incident. It was lucky it didn't cause an obstruction.

It’s the waterfowl formula. First 2 ingredients are duck and duck meal but the third is chicken meal. It’s all grain free which may have something to do with him doing better on this stuff than others.

Maybe if you wouldn't feed him from the table, Eddie?

It's definitely food allergies. Put him on a limited ingredient dog food. Then rotate it every week. Ex. Lamb and brown rice one week. Turkey and sweet potato next week. Salmon and brown rice next week. Rotate protein and starch.

Dogs digestive systems are not designed to eat the same thing every single day for months on end. Yes, many dogs can...and if they can tolerate it fine. But, in the wild their food changes every day (just like humans). Some dogs will start getting sick/rejecting food if over exposed to it for weeks or months. Had this exact issue with our dog. We rotate his food and it's resolved the issue.

Every time I think I’m ready to commit to getting a dog, a post like this comes along. Think i’ll pass.
