Dog intuition making them scared

My title isn’t good, but not sure of a better one.
Dogs are usually very social animals and the dog I was taking for a walk was no exception. It runs up to every animal and person to say hello and to try to get it to play.
Last night though, we turn into a street and we see this creepy guy in an orange parka just standing on the sidewalk staring. It was admittedly creepy. As soon as the dog sees this though, he bolts in the other direction. I try to get him to go down the street but he refuses. Just lays down and won’t move. Finally we decide to go in the other direction.
The weird thing is, the dog kept looking back over it’s shoulder from where we’d come for like 3-4 blocks with his tail between his legs, looking scared. I’ve never seen the dog act like that. Felt a little like a horror movie though.
The only thing I can think of was the guy was on drugs and the dog could smell it and didn’t like the smell.

Dogs know things man. Mine always shits on the floor if there is an argument or tumult of some kind. Or if it’s Friday. Or some other day. Or if it’s raining. And sometimes when it’s sunny. Or even partly cloudy. Dogs, man.

Mine is outdoors and inside an outdoor room that's cooled and heated at night. Floors inside my home stay clean.

Pimp, you should probably stop fingering your dog's butthole.

You are on an LSU website the week of the SECCG talking about a dog getting scared.....you don't have to give them material.

Dogs have insane intuition. It is an evolutionary survival instinct.
Also, they hate it when people are timid around them. My dog seems racist because black people are often timid around dogs, I guess a cultural thing. It is super embarrassing.

My dog is also very social..He is always happy to see people. I had a GF and her dad was a real dick. The only father of a GF that I didn't care for..Anyway, my dog growled and snapped at the jerk. He is the only person I have seen my dog do that to.

Your dog is trying to tell you he doesn't like it as much as you like it when a guy does it to you.

That dude was probably a demon, and your dog just saved your arse from making a deal at the crossroads.

we had a dog like that when I was a kid, was kind of embarrassing because the dog would go apeshit around a black person, so much so that it probably looked like he was trained to be that way

I do believe dogs can sense good and evil in people. Dogs pretty much always like me, so sometimes they can be wrong.

Yeah, same.
I have a big fluffy golden doodle that has stringier hair. Looks like a blonde sheep dog almost. He is the sweetest animal and forces everyone to pet him.
But I swear, if we are walking and he sees a black person, he starts growling and showing teeth. Not all black people (our black friends for example), but most because most I've interacted with while walking are timid around a 90 lb. dog.
I seriously get so fricking embarrassed.
ETA:
PSA, if you're a burglar and trying to rob my house, just go straight for my dog like you're old friends and he'll roll on his back and ask for a belly rub.

I had a Belgian Malinois that was a seriously protective dog. One day I'm walking him and his older black man walks right up to us and the dog doesn't do anything. I looked at the guy had the dog and the guy started laughing. He told me that he was a dog handler in Vietnam handling a Belgian Malinois. He said that my dawg instinctively knew that he was cool.
I always have herding dogs and they have a strong intuition about who is good and who is bad.

That guy was a skinwalker. Your dog just saved your life and your soul. Cook him a steak tonight, he earned it.

This isn't tRant. This is the OT; where all shite posters with dysentery-of-the-mouth are welcome regardless of affiliation. Besides, the dog was probably a collie.

A few weeks ago, I was walking the dog. We walked by a house that was being gutted, and I headed towards the dumpster to toss the dog poop bag into, because frick walking the next mile holding a Rouses bag full of dog shite.
As we headed towards the dumpster, which was at the end of the driveway by the back of the house, she put on the brakes. Like full on all four legs braced and pulling back. I looked back at her, and she looked scared. Tail between her legs, wild look in her eyes.
It freaked me the frick out, and we got the hell out of there with the quickness. I had to carry that bag of shite until we got home.
