Vet told me the same thing last week. Estimate is close to $1000. Not sure if legit either.

Cleanings are good. You just don’t wanna be putting a dawg under anesthesia every few months to do it. Every couple years is ok.

But 1,000 bucks?!? That is the scam. Absolutely not for 1000 bucks.

We just got back from the vet with our 12 yo dog. Vet said her teeth look great. We have never even considered brushing them or having them cleaned. Same with other two.

For whatever that’s worth.

We have a 14 year old Chihuahua and we had her put under, teeth cleaned, four pulled and she's like a brand new dog. Breath is perfect, she's hyper, eating, etc.

Expensive, but highly recommended.

you're full of shite and spreading false statistics. what is your source.

likelihood of anesthetic death in dogs is way less than 1%. several studies have shown it. here is one from the AVMA stating its 0.05% in dogs after a large comprehensive case review. Dipshit. LINK

you clearly only care about what your dog can do for you and don't give two shits about them otherwise. Regular check ups and cleanings can prevent
-Cardiac disease
-Tooth root abscessation that can lead to sepsis
-Pain that can cause behavioral problems

You will invest 15k in training for a dog, but wont protect that investment by making sure the dog stays healthy as long as possible? idiot.

Teeth cleanings are not a scam. they are legit. why does one cost 1k at one vet vs 200 at another? probably because vet A is doing pre-op bloodwork, radiographs, pre-op heart checks, etc to make sure they have all information going into it. Vet B probably is just anesthetizing and going to work. Different approaches for sure. No vet got into the profession to get rich. Could have gotten an MD in relative same amount of time and cost if that was the case.

Very legit. My pooches get their teeth cleaned once a year. Very vital to their health. That $1,000.00 could mean your pooch has more work to be done than an actual cleaning.

Normal cleaning charge without any extractions or other things is about $300-$400.00 per for my dogs.

Almost exclusively labs. Mom had toy poodles but I wasn’t around them much.

Strange how dogs used to live just as long eating shittier food, not getting dental cleanings under anesthesia, and not having their anal glands expressed.
