Dog shot after attacking at least two people in downtown Roanoke

Highlights-
English Bull Terrier

Dog attacked a woman, knocking her to the ground.

Guy with a cane tries to get the dog to let go of the woman, dog turns and attacks guy with cane. Bystanders try to get dog to release by choking it with rope and pepper spray.

Guy with cane escapes and runs into local barbershop. Dog chases man, gets head slammed by door. People outside fight back with a mop and hammer.

Bystander shows up with a gun, shoots dog twice.

Owner claimed the dog "got out"
Owner showed up barefoot.

There are two pictures in the story. One is of the dog latched on to a guy's arm, the other is the dog after being shot.

Bull terrier there. Which are, often times, classified as a dangerous/banned breed.

Man, those two guys to the left in that photograph look pretty calm and disinterested in the situation.

I was witness to a dog attack one time and a bystander kept yelling to "stick a finger in its butt" at the people wrestling the dog.

Always wondered if that was real advice or just someone from the OT having a good time with the situation.

Thanks for catching that. In the pictures the dog clearly looks more like an English bull terrier than an English bulldog terrier. Just thinking about it I internally laughed trying to imagine an English bulldog going on the same rampage.

Paul to the rescue !

Paul Burek, who was servicing a copy machine at Curry Copy, had witnessed the whole event and had earlier retrieved his small handgun from his car. When the dog wandered clear of other people, Burek shot it once. It kept moving, and Burek closed on it, shooting it again at close range and knocking it down.

this thread covers 2 of the OT's favorite topics. Guns and dog attacks.
