Dog advice

I've got a dog with an eye infection. Vet gave me drops to give the little bastard. Problem is the dog absolutely loses its shite when you try to restrain him in an way. I tried holding him while my wife did the drops but the little turd was flailing around and she couldn't get them in. Anybody got tips for this situation? Similar experience?

Sneak attack from behind while you are tempting him with food from the front.
Or wait until he is asleep close to you, pet his belly a little and bomb him as soon as he opens his eyes.

Get rough with it. Grab his muzzle closed with your left hand, the back of his neck with the other and hold his arse down so the wife can deliver drops. Put a knee on him if you have to. You're a man and its a small dog I take it? Should be no problem

Put him in a pillow case and restrain him. Be gentle, talk to him and reassure him it's gonna be Ok. Go slow and have lots of patience. I know it sounds stupid, but regardless of the species, sometimes it takes a ton of patience to give an animal a treatment. Remember, everything you're doing is strange to him so it's all about trust. Lose that and you're SOL. Good luck. You'd be amazed how animals as big as horses can lose their shite over the simplest procedure. It ain't cause he's a bad dog. Just doesn't know what the frick you're trying to do. Part of your job is to make that understood and make him comfortable with it.
