Does your obsessions rub off on your kids? (please move)

Here’s the situation, I’m obsessed with tattoos, spent a lot of time and money on them and now my 16 yr old daughter wants to get one and asked me for permission, I told her no, not until she’s 18 which she wouldn’t need my consent. Well my ex caught wind of it and is willing to sign if need be, which now has my daughter thinking about going against me. I have sole custody of my daughter and I really don’t want to lay down the law on the girl over a tattoo when in two more years she can get one anyways.

You should seek advice on the OT

Kids like to share an interest with their parents. I like to brew beer. My 10yo wants a taste of every one ... but never two. The 9yo thinks she is crazy and never tasted anything after the first try.
“Full custody” does not say much, but in Texas the equivalent would be “sole managing conservator.”. If that is what you are, the ex has ZERO right to make such decisions. for the daughter. If you really care, review your Decree with an attorney.

Show her pics of some of the clothes you wore in high school. And your hair. Tell her that no one should make permanent decisions until they are at LEAST 18.

You could sit her down and explain how tattoos have affected you negatively (if they have) and how they might affect a young 16-18 y.o. girl negatively.

what is the real reason you don't want her to get tats?
if ok for you...then why not ok for her?
