Not sure where you get your information, but my wife (veterinarian) says this is absolutly untrue. Maybe, she says MAYBE, if they got into some sort of hop concentrate it could be bad, but not from just beer.

I have a boston terrier who loves beer. She will try and grab the bottle out of my hands when I'm sitting on the couch. We don't give her beer but she's happy to get an empty bottle to lick.

Back when I was a kid (40 years ago) my dad worked at a junkyard with a St. Bernard junkyard dog. The wrecks they got in invariably had bottles of booze in them, and "Linda" the junkyard dog always got the booze.

Dad said the most hilarious thing was when they would come in the next morning and could tell she was hung over. He said she would go right back at the new wrecks, and bring them the bottles to put in her bowl.

She's more of a wine drinker.

They have some great beers, but a lot of them are way overpriced. I tried their Manta Ray last weekend, and it was incredibly good. But their Sculpin isn't worth $15 a six pack.

Lived with a chick in college who had a shih tzu. Worst dog breed ever.

Anyway that thing was the biggest lightweight after. We’d let her have a few laps when she was gone. That dog would start running around with its head sideways and falling off couches.

I'd be careful about giving him IPAs. Hops are toxic to dogs.

My childhood dog was a yellow lab. Its name was Mikey.. which was short for its registered name Werners Michelob Lite. Even as a pup it would go after beer. She could tell the difference between a sealed can of soda vs beer. One time we came home and she had popped every can in a 30 pack and licked it off the kitchen floor. Sure do miss that dog.

Hops can cause malignant hyperthermia, but it is eating raw or spent hops that is the problem, not a few sips from an IPA...

My dog likes it but looks like he is allergic. If you pour some on the ground he licks it up and starts sneezing almost immediately.
