Most natives with an IQ higher than the ambient temperature can tone it down when among outsiders and polite company: unless excited, mad, or drunk. Or a combination of those. Then it comes out in all of its glory.

I done learn how to talk in Lafourche but left when I was almost five. To this day I cannot pronounce the word oyster correctly. I don’t say erster but living on de bayou done messed up how I say dat word
