Does selling furniture in a consignment shop make sense in the internet age?

Consignment shops typically take a healthy percentage of the sale, but the potential buyers have the opportunity to inspect the items for sale up close. Do you think it still makes sense to put furniture and similar household furnishings for sale in consignment shops in light of the fact that the internet is an alternative?

Yes. Some people enjoy looking at things to buy, especially one of a kinds, in person.

The advantage to consignment shops to me is I can get it out of my house immediately and not have to deal with people- i.e. “wait for me, I’m on the way”

And they never have to come to your home. Winner winner chicken dinner

I don’t want to sell or ship things to random internet people, and I like to look at things in person before I buy them. Consignment stores are fun.

Does the furniture appeal to people that are too damn old to use the internet to buy shite?

Not sure what makes sense anymore having to do with anything. But, Patinas has some nice antique furniture usually. Just gotta jump on it if you want it because whatever you see that you like will be gone when you go back.

No consignment store wants your stained mattresses. Just sell them to AntiqueTiger at a garage sale.

It makes more sense than ever, do you really want strangers coming to your place? Now if said consignment store had an online presence then yeah.

Typically the price will be little higher than what could be found on someplace like FB marketplace. That will usually cover the consignment fee. If you are talking about shipping, those costs are crazy for the average homeowner looking to get rid of something. And a hassle.
The other advange than those not already mentioned, people can get it right away. That isn't always the case online in these times of supply shortages and shipping delays. My friend was told a couple of weeks for an in stock new table and chairs from a well know online furniture spot. Ending up taking nearly two months to come in. Another friend custom ordered a sofa and had to wait for a second one because the shipping container the first on was in fell into the ocean. :D
