There have been many of times I was in the store, someone goes to the counter with just a fountain drink or coffee, and the clerk says no charge. I've been asked many times when walking through the store with just a fountain drink, "Is that all you are getting?" Just this evening, the clerk asked me the same thing before I grabbed a couple other things, but she didn't charge me for the drink.

They use to have a week long free drinks (fountain & coffees) but they haven't done it in a long time. I wonder if they just stopped to free drink week and just gone with free drink as they please.

Happens with coffee all the time there.

Maybe it is alright with management because they hope you come back there next time.

Well considering drinks probably are the highest margin product they have, I'd say that's a poor business model.

I know you're joking, but I can't remember the last time a black lady has made me pay for a fountain drink at a gas station in Louisiana.

I hit them with "ma'am" as I walk in, and a "doin alright today, sweetheart?" as I check out.

I smile, they smile, and that's what's right with the world.
