Does Jack Daniel's county stay dry just to help with the marketing?

I dunno. I do know however they've passed a special law that allows Jack Daniels to sell their whiskey at the distillery now. I bought a bottle there last July.
BTW, I'm a biker and my whiskey of choice is Wild Turkey Rare Breed or 101.

They have liquor/beer stores in Lynchburg now on the main highway on both sides of the JD Distillery. They have went wet sometime in the recent past.
