If it bothers you, you are a pussy. Go cry next to your Jesus tree.

No, it doesn't bother me.
But then again, I refer to girls named Christina as Xina, guys named Christopher as Xopher, and Chris Christie as X-t Xie.

I don't mind seeing/reading the word "X-mas" but if someone used the term in conversation then I think it would be pretty stupid. I've really never heard someone say it though.

The exact origin of the single letter X for Christ cannot be pinpointed with certainty. Some claim that it began in the first century AD along with the other symbols, but evidence is lacking. Others think that it came into widespread use by the thirteenth century along with many other abbreviations and symbols for Christianity and various Christian ideas that were popular in the Middle Ages. However, again, the evidence is sparse.
In any case, by the fifteenth century Xmas emerged as a widely used symbol for Christmas. In 1436 Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press with moveable type. In the early days of printing typesetting was done by hand and was very tedious and expensive. As a result, abbreviations were common. In religious publications, the church began to use the abbreviation C, or simply X, for the word "Christ" to cut down on the cost of the books and pamphlets. From there, the abbreviation moved into general use in newspapers and other publications, and "Xmas" became an accepted way of printing "Christmas" (along with the abbreviations Xian and Xianity). Even Webster’s dictionary acknowledges that the abbreviation Xmas was in common use by the middle of the sixteenth century.
Don't waste your time being offended by silly things like "Xmas". There's no reason for it. I could maybe understand if you were offended by the commercialization of Christmas.

even though this is a little, well, blunt, this is how I feel.
And that's besides the fact that the term 'x mas' has been around for a looooong time.

Does it offend me? NO
Does it bother me? Yes
Big difference.

I never understood why people who are not Christians, do not believe in Jesus Christ would want to celebrate a Christian holiday
Christ MAS
Nothing in this but worship of Christ
Christ MAS
Nothing in this but worship of Christ

Yeah, it was blunt but I am so sick of hearing people whine about this. It is all over Facebook this time of year. Grow a pair, people. Don't take things so personally, believer in what you want to believe in and ignore those who think otherwise. Then there is the entire issue that the X does not really remove Christ from Christmas and then the fact that many facets of Christmas originated as Pagan traditions to began with and yada yada.

I also don't mind when people say Happy Holidays in stead of Merry Christmas.
X dammit, that is crossing the line.

Tell that to the stores that rake in all the money during the holidays. If we were bombarded by Chanukah commercials and music for a full 2 months, I bet a lot more people would celebrate Chanukah. There's a serious glorification of buying presents during this time of year. I don't really have a dog in the fight, but it's pretty obvious why people celebrate a Christian holiday even if they're not Christian.

I've seen it written time and again for years and never gave it a second thought. I can't remember ever hearing someone actually say it like that though. Who does that and why would they do that?

I think there are two sorts of people here that do this.
1) A small group of people who think they are making some kind of anti-religion statement, because they are better than the rest of us, these are the people I also here them actually verbally say Xmas.
2) Everyone else who is just lazy and looking for a shortcut in writing.

This is an imagined issue. I won't say there are absolutely no people who think like this, but there are so few that they might as well not exist.

I might have heard someone say it once or twice. I think it's a safe assumption that it's nothing more than a person trying to sound cute and different.

Right, that's why I said a "small" group of people
