Forgotten entertaining and cheesy movie like Jason and the Argonauts. Loved this as a kid. (It can still be watched online.)
Some trailer narration hype (sound familiar?)
"They created wonders for the good of mankind...then turned them into monsters."
"This is the story of those who like today would use the marvels of science to conquer and enslave...."
"Atlantis, a world that worshiped strange gods of science, A SCIENCE GONE BERSERK!...A diabolical laboratory where humans were transformed into half man, half beast (corrupting the seed of man with animals, as per Book of Enoch?)...and created secret weapons." (Disintegrating Laser Rays)
"There is nothing new under the sun."
Check out the symbolism.
And yes, that is 'The Chief' from 'get Smart', Edward Platt.
