I had one. He was black but hair was similar in length and texture to a golden retriever. Looked like a flat coated retriever. Had the temperment of a lab. Very hyper/excitable, good duck dog, smart as hell, would naturally dive for ducks (go underwater), could also jump in the back of a full size truck with the tailgate up. I have also owned 3 goldens and 1 chocolate lab over the years. He was by far the smartest.

Died at home while we were skydiving.
Boss did do two jumps though. He loved it. I don't know what he loved more when we landed... us, or the ground.

have a 9 week old golden now. love him to death but as a single working guy boy is it some work

Bruh if you can’t get laid with a 9 week old golden you are doing something wrong.

A puppy Golden is nearly as valuable as two commas when it comes to picking up girls

I have a good friend that has a lab/golden mix. She's just like any other retriever. Very mellow, loving, not high strung, loves to chase rabbits & squirrels, great with kids.

i had one (maybe).

got her from a feller that raises and bred labs and also had a registered golden.

the litter my dog came from, guy said he couldn’t be sure if they was pure (and registerable labs) or a mix with the golden.
His golden got him some from one of the female labs.

but my dog looked and acted like a pure lab, so my guess is she was pure.

I'm a lab guy all the way.
I even prefer american lab with a touch of british. I like leaner, more athletic dogs.

Anyway, when I was growing up, some neighbors had a litter of lab/gr puppies. Lab side was british.
These pups grew up into the most beautiful dogs. They had the best temperment too.

If this dog you are looking to adopt is anything like the ones I knew back then....well, you will have an incredible addition to your family.

Inherited a golden (that was raised in a frat house, and somehow had no ill effects.) Incredible dog, and was great with my newborn kids.

Currently have a lab mix. I'm concerned the other part is Dalmatian due to the ticking in her coat, but she's a sweetheart. She hops in my lap and puts her head on my shoulder every evening when l sit in the recliner.

Do it.

Golden/Chocolate Lab mix. She bunks and pals around with her Black Lab sister. They're inseparable. Black lab is no Mensa candidate and her stupid has been rubbing off on my mix dog. The mix is beautiful with some chocolate around her ears but looks mostly like a giant Golden. She will dig out or climb out of a yard with equal facility. But she was pretty easily trained. She has never met someone who didn't love her or she them. Can't guarantee her type is a result of the blend of breeds or we just got lucky. I lean toward the former based on my experience. Don't have pic. New phone. I have posted them before in other threads. Personally I think a female Golden/Lab mix will be a good choice all the more so if there's little kids involved.

Don’t think, just adopt the dog. Golden retrievers and labradors are two of the best breeds ever. The combination only makes that dog better.

And the fact that you’re adopting makes you awesome.

I had one that live to almost 15yo.
Best dog that i've ever owned personality wise.
Was not as active as a lab but was still pretty active.

He didn't shed as bad as a lab but I had to occasionally trim him because his hair would get so long.
