It's astonishing how much crappier Claitor's shopping center is relative to the one across the street.
Galatoire's, IberiaBank, and Trader Joe's are all significantly nicer than a a windshield repair tent and an ice machine complete with a tacky neon sign.

Why is this astonishing? Trader joes was all built very recently. Claitor's shopping center has been there forever.

That's the great disappointment following the fire. The Claitor's had an opportunity to remake the property into something much better. Instead, they filled it with a lot of the same cheap crap they always do. One of the best locations in the entire city, and it's home to a place that buys gold, teaches belly dancing, and sells seasonal items from temporary structures in the parking lot.
One might think they'd better enjoy owning big strip lots of old sections on airline hwy or Florida blvd.
