well they haven't had oysters in The Cove in probably 40 years or so. I may know someone who can tell you.

As others have stated, Scruffy, the reproductions started hitting the market/home decor.-framing places in the late, late 1970s, early to middle 1980s.
Danny Frohlich's art began with Mardi Gras cups in that era, then expanded to prints. Reproducing older advertising started taking off about the same time. The World's Fair kicked off some nostalgia, as did Paul Prudhomme opening K-Paul's in the Quarter, and the whole framing of commemorative posters that started in that era, as well, with the rise to prominence of Jazz Fest posters, and Crescent City Classic posters and similar.

Either way they look awesome, even better that they are framed by your grandfather.
