Ipads are outlawed in many churches in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Well I take notes in a designated journal every sermon. So I already have that opened. Having that opened and my bible opened makes it harder to flip to the different verses. Even though each sermon is usually centered around one book/chapter..he skips around to different verses.
Just easier to have my notebook out and I take notes on one side..have my phone on the other side to look up bible verses. The YouVersion bible app is great because you can easily access all the different translations(my church mostly uses NIV, but sometimes will use ESV during sermons. I also like NLT as well..easier to understand when I want to go back and read the verses for bible study).

I went yesterday evening instead. Sunday services are always really packed this time of year with all the snowbirds that I prefer Sat evening service. It is the same pastor and sermon for both days.
ETA: I even went by myself

Not at my church. We have our own app. They encourage people to use the app if they want during the sermon to take notes.

I wouldn't imagine much. It's just an app. Many other churches have their own apps now.
Whatever they spend I can assure you they spend MUCH MUCH more on serving the local community and others in need in the country and throughout the world. (Ex: After Harvey they took up an offering one Sunday for hurricane relief and raised like 200K).
